ABOUT the owner
Billy Vizzo is a lifelong hockey player with over 25 years of playing experience. A Shelton, Connecticut native, Billy played his entire youth hockey career at Wonderland of Ice with the Wonderland Wizards, competing at a high level and qualifying for five national tournaments - formative years that built the foundation for his work ethic, hockey IQ, and competitive mindset.
Billy went on to play high school hockey at Notre Dame West Haven, where he made an immediate impact - earning First Team All-State honors as a sophomore and recording a hat trick in the state championship game. After his junior year, Billy made the decision to leave high school early to pursue junior hockey in the USPHL, a pivotal move in his development. During his time in the USPHL, he led the league in points for the season, performance that ultimately earned him a Division I college hockey scholarship.
Billy’s college career included time at the NCAA Division I level before finishing at NCAA Division III, after which he transitioned directly into professional hockey. He went on to play four seasons of pro hockey in the ECHL and SPHL, where he became known for his high compete level, offensive instincts, and ability to elevate the players around him—contributing to a professional championship team along the way.
Having personally navigated every tier of competitive hockey, Billy brings rare firsthand insight into what players truly need to grow: clear development goals, honest feedback, and the right opportunities at the right time. He has lived the realities of roster decisions, role changes, league transitions, and the pressure young athletes face while trying to advance.
As the owner of Vizzo Hockey Advisory, Billy now brings that experience directly to players and families. He specializes in detailed game film analysis, strategic career advising, and helping athletes identify the right team, league, and development path aligned with their long-term goals. His mission is to give players the clarity, confidence, and guidance he wishes every young athlete had.
